Assuming that you are using a lens with the VR optical image stabilization, And be careful that the shutter speed is not set too slow, or you may not be able to handhold the camera and still get a sharp photo. This will help the cameras sensor not to be confused also change shutter and aperture. This is only a starting point, and you may well have to adjust either the aperture or shutter speed, to get a better looking exposure. Info 5 : Take a photo at those settings, and then review it and see how it came out. That is designed for daytime shooting only, and would be the very worst possible scene setting to use at night. Don't set your Dial to LANDSCAPE. Info 1 : Go into the menu and change it to landscape ( NOT THE KNOB ON TOP). Also try manually setting your white balance with a Grey Card....

Sensor size, not megapixel rating, translates directly to image quality, but also lens and body size, so you can either have an incredibly small body with an incredibly small sensor, or a larger body with a larger sensor. Most of the interchangeable lens cameras we've seen to date seem to follow a standard mold: they have similarly sized bodies, comparable designs and either an APS-C or Micro Four Thirds sensor at the core. Are you willing to pay a premium for the "world's smallest" interchangeable lens camera, even if it has the same size sensor used in many point-and-shoot cams available for a fraction of the cost. But recently, some manufacturers -- namely, Nikon and Pentax -- have begun shrinking camera bodies in an attempt to make them even more appealing to point-and-shoot users. The result: a smaller, lighter, more fashionable ILC -- that also happens to have an itsy bitsy image sensor. Read More »
With the Nikon D2X the situation is even worse as the write speed to the cards is somewhere around 3mb per second. For high speed events it would seem like the logical approach would be to set the cameras for 5 or 6 frames per second, hold your finger on the release and figure out what to use later. The cameras I use, a Nikon D300 and Nikon D2X are capable of 6 photos per second and 5 photos per second in their standard configuration. While this may seem like quite a lot of photos I thought I would discuss the techniques I use for sports and other high speed events. Being a little of a cheapie, I tend to buy older cards that do not have really fast write speeds. I use Sandisk Ultra II cards in my D300 and these cards write (according to tests by Rob Galbraith ) at 9. If I do the math correctly then, my blast of 17 RAW files (20mb each) in under 3 seconds will take 36 seconds to upload to the card. This also explains why I can often shoot 1,000 plus photos per day easily when......

A Beginner's Guide to Seahorses
24.10.11
Seahorses are relatively lower on the evolutionary scale than most bony fishes, and there are a few differences you should know that will affect how you keep these animals. I hope to dispel some of the mystery behind keeping seahorses, as well as demonstrate the basic requirements for building and maintaining a stable environment so that even a "beginner" aquarist may enjoy these fascinating and beautiful animals. First, and perhaps most importantly, seahorse gills are less efficient than those of other bony fishes. Seahorses are fantastic creatures to observe in aquaria, and with a little advanced planning and research, they are not much more difficult to keep than many other fish. The seahorse is almost mythical in form, with its horselike head strangely mated with an armored, serpentine body. Nothing fits these descriptions more aptly than seahorses. Also, seahorses lack true stomachs. Aquarium hobbyists are often on the lookout for unique animals to stock in their miniature ecosystems. Read More »
