Leitz Summilux-R 80mm f1.4 test photos and ... - Overgaard, Thorsten
By far my favorite lens of all. Because it's beautiful, a piece of diamond to hold and because it creates dreamlike - sometimes almost religious - images that allow me to focus the viewers attention towards the center of interest.
It has the qualities, Leica lenses are known for: Works in low light, distinguishes light beams very preciesly (why you can use it even when the sun is behind the subject), and it has a 'fingerprint.'
It's a very tricky lens to learn to focus correctly. I often have trouble seeing if I misssed the right focus or if the shutter was so slow, the camera moved. Sometimes it's a great effect, at other times you want it to be tack sharp! The technique I use, is to trust my intuition to know if it is in focus. In any case you can't trust the center of the focusing screen (microprism); you have to use the ground focusing screen around the center microprism. And then remember; if you focus, then turn the camera, it will be out of focus again.

Leica V-Lux 3 superzoom announced, a Panasonic Lumix FZ150 with a red dot
1-megapixel CMOS sensor and 24x zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 4. We are also used to Leica taking one of Panasonic’s compact shooters, adding an optimized firmware and releasing it as a Leica branded version. In order to at least give some grounds for the hefty premium demanded, Leica is packaging the V-Lux 3 with Adobe’s Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements software and a two year warranty. Leica has announced the V-Lux 3 superzoom bridge camera, which is a rebranded FZ150 with a few cosmetic changes. Of course the red dot always demands a premium and this is what has happened with the Panasonic Lumix FZ150. The Leica and Panasonic partnership has been a long-standing one and has resulted in some fantastic products — especially some incredibly sharp Micro Four Thirds Lenses. The V-Lux 3 has a 3-inch fully articulating 460,000 dot LCD display. 5-108mm f/2. 8-5-2 (25-600mm 35mm equivalent) lens.

New Leica M9 Firmware is out, V 1.162! 24 Lux samples…
Here is the details of the new firmware update for the M9:. . I just so happen to have a Leica 24 Summilux on hand (not mine, but wish it was) for my trip so I shot a few images with it yesterday using the new firmware. I feel great today and realized that I did not post yet about the new Leica M9 firmware update that was released earlier today/yesterday. Actually, I have been shooting the new firmware for about a month but never noticed any differences because this update really only affects those who shoot wide angle lenses. Color seems great and I see no issues on the edges so I guess the new FW is working well, which is great for all wide shooters. BTW, the 24 Lux is soooooo good on the M9. Can’t wait to shoot it at the first Seal show on Saturday in Parnu, Estonia in hopes to get some great audience interaction shots....
A Day at the Zoo with my Leica M9-P and 50 Summitar f/2
I used to shoot with a Nikon D2h myself and I had the typical lenses most Nikon shooters had at that time. 4, the 24-70…all big and heavy lenses, especially the 70-200. It performed exceptionally well but at the end of the day I was so tired of lugging it all around AND having to push a stroller through the zoo. He hasn’t felt the full pain of lugging it around with a 70-200 VR yet, hahaha. Today my son and I decided to take a photo stroll through the Wildlife World Zoo in Phoenix to enjoy the nice day and get some cool snaps out of it as well. My son Brandon has really been getting into his Nikon D2h lately. The 70-200 VR, the 85 1. Many years ago when he was really young we would go to this same Zoo and I would have to rent a stroller. He doesn’t seem to mind it but he is eyeballing the little Nikon V1 and Sony NEX-7 that I have been carrying around....

Leica digilux 3, Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1, nikon d200 or canon EOS 30D ? wich one is the best, price/performance
wich one is the best, price/performance?
While the Leica and Panasonic cameras are excellent, they are NOT in the same class as Canon or Nikon.
If you have any thought of going pro someday, stick with Canon or Nikon.

Nikon D200 owner. Love it, probably the best camera I have owned. Has great speed, great color and a solid body. It will out perform both of those cameras. You also have a wide range of lenses to choose from as well as other components.
